I wouldn’t want to change it. But can we just take a moment right now to be grateful and astonished that we are alive and able to bear witness to the universe? Can we just spend like four seconds letting it sink in that we are here, together, amid something much larger than we can effectively imagine? How strange it is to be anything at all. How remarkably un-strange it is to be anything at all. How remarkably probable it is to be anything in the midst of everything. It would be a kind utterance to praise our existence as anomalous and rare, but it would also be a fallacy. We bear witness to no universe but our own; the only “anything” we have to claim as our own is in paradigms.
